People with debilitating medical conditions and permission from their doctors will be able to buy marijuana from state-sanctioned distribution centers starting next year.
Voters, by a wide margin, approved a ballot question that makes Massachusetts the 18th state to legalize medical marijuana, in addition to the District of Columbia.

"Medical marijuana" should be limited to a variety that does not produce a "high".
The same can be said for oxcontin, oxycodone, codeine, vicodine, the list goes on. You need to get past the Stigma that the government and dare program placed on this drug and compare it to what's already LEGALLY being given to terminally ill patients. Do you know someone that is on a life time prescription to a pain killer due to a chronic disease? Dehydration, depression, withrdrawl, severe(and i mean severe) constipation; never mind the cost.
And what do you mean "limited to a variety"? That doesn't exist in science.

Excellent. Now let's legalize it all together. I rarely partake but aside from the foolish stigma attached to it, marijuana is no worse than alcohol, in fact, I would say that it's less dangerous as you rarely see those using marijuana behaving badly like those using alcohol, including driving under the influence. And that's not because marijuana is illegal because it's easy to get, just like alcohol was during Prohibition. Legalize it and tax it, just like alcohol. It would be a great source of revenues, would take it out of the hands of criminals and would keep a lot of people out of prison. You'd wind up with maybe a small uptick in use but with increased revenues and cost reductions. Casinos have a worse social impact than marijuana use. It's all about stigmas. This prohibition needs to end.
An excellent decision on the part of voters. I just read the entire Bill and it's very well thought out and written. Let's hope this gets executed quickly and not hung up on Beacon Hill.
