He reawakened the state Republican Party, which had been out of power and losing ground. He energized national Republicans who were giddy at snatching the seat long held by Edward M. Kennedy, the liberal lion, right in the lion’s den, Massachusetts.
But Tuesday night, US Senator Scott Brown was pushed out, a casualty of what he likes to call the state’s Democratic machine. Brown, whose star rose fast and high and who was, for a time, the most popular politician in Massachusetts, was ousted, three years after he was swept into the Senate.

The facts are that Scotty-boy had no record of accomplishing anything in his state legislative terms, and in 3 years voted with his Republican friends to stop federal aid to laid off residents of Massachusetts. It was his time to go.......
Brown was the only answer to a dissapointing Coakley, who should NEVER have been running for that seat anyway, so he was a shoe-in of sorts. I give it to him that he was able to bypass the Dem Machine in MA and win, yet his record in that time was spotty. Never taking a hard stand until almost the end, voting against the Republican party only when it made little difference and the votes he did take were about the Party not the Man. He didn't really have a record to stand on or anything to offer MA other than a Republican in the Senate as a sort of side-show attraction.
Did Scott ever work in business? Would this have made a difference to Romney as much as it did for Obama...although I guess since Ryan was always a Politico then it means so long as you are a Republican then it doesn't matter if you worked in the private sector or not.
No tears for the decorative Scott Brown. Here are his options: Lobbyist. Really the perfect job for such a charming conniver. Real Estate Lawyer, again. They do less real work for their fees than any other members of the legal profession. Laundry worker. The hamper at home is full and reportedly he has real talent in this area. And my favorite: Contestant on "Dancing With the Stars." Picture him in shiney tight pants, a sequined gigolo shirt opened to his navel, and a little Taylor Swift mou on his pretty face. Home at last.

A perfect summary! Exactly! (You left off FoxNews "political analyst", which is where a lot of failed GOP candidates and jettisoned pols go to lay around.)
I agree that Coakley was a poor candidate, having risen to fame thanks to the notariety from the prosecution of nanny Louise Woodward, against whom charges should never have been brought. Similarly, Romney probably became Governor thanks to the smirky arrogance of Shannon O'Brien, who thought she would walk from the Treasurer's office into the Governor's office on the basis of her party affiliation. Then he spent two of his four years running for President.
Scott Brown has a lot of CLASS good luck to him
