Marblehead man found guilty in murder case

A Marblehead man was found guilty of first-degree murder Thursday in the killing of his girlfriend and unborn child, according to the Essex district attorney.

Peter Ronchi, 48, stabbed his girlfriend, Yulyia Galperina, who was nine months pregnant with their child, to death in her apartment in Salem on May 16, 2009, the office of District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett said in a statement.

Ronchi was convicted in Salem Superior Court on two counts of first-degree murder without the possibility of parole, Blodgett’s office said.

“This verdict holds the defendant responsible for his actions in the brutal stabbing of a nine month pregnant woman whom he supposedly loved,” Blodgett said in the statement.
