Needham residents will soon be able to buy a six-pack of beer without leaving town, ­after voters overwhelmingly backed a ballot question Tuesday to allow the retail sale of ­alcohol.

While the town clerk’s ­office was still finalizing its count Wednesday, unofficial results showed that 12,181 Needham voters supported the measure, while 4,636 voted against it.
