Rats swarm Castle Island in South Boston

For centuries, Castle Island stood as a bulwark against foreign invaders. But these days, the popular South Boston park is battling domestic intruders: rats.

“They’re overwhelming; it’s infested all over the island,” said Bill Spain, president of the Castle Island Association, a nonprofit historical preservation group. “It’s really bad at night. Someone is going to get attacked.”

Import an army of cats.

A .410 shotgun is a perfect gauge for rat shooting.  Relatively tight spread on the shot, very short range, light and almost no recoil. Excellent practice for someone learning to handle a shotgun.

Rats have always been at Castle Island. Put a tariff on food at Sullivan's to cover extermination. Pick up the trash regularly. Problem solved.

The rubbish is picked up every morning, before the sun rises

and the workers  keep the island immaculate   THANK YOU

RATS-Are now the BIGGEST problem facing the City of Boston. It's time for the toothless ISD to be given the authority to Fine, Clean and Lien property owners on the spot for not keeping their property clean and trash locked away from the vermin. A $5,000.00 fine immediately imposed would not be enough for some of these propery owners.

The men that do the work, to keep Castle Island so beautiful.are not to blame

it's the people who feed the birds and sea gulls who are to blame

take away the food and the problem will be settled
