Robert Ware Foster, 93, is among the 1.5 million World War II veterans living in the United States, a population that is rapidly dwindling. In the last year, more than 248,000 World War II veterans have died nationwide, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The last person from his company with whom Foster kept in touch died in April.
