Scandal highlights the strains of modern war

And so, just in time for Veterans Day, one of the nation’s most distinguished and decorated veterans of the Army is shown to have feet of clay.

The humiliation of retired General David Petraeus has just begun. So, too, have the conspiracy theories. It seems awfully suspicious and perhaps convenient that CIA director Petraeus exits, stage left, just before he was supposed to testify this week before a congressional committee probing the killings in Libya of US Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other men, including Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL from Winchester.

ok, the strains of a war together with people including the general are human. not infallible. but kevin, whats your excuse going from a respected journalist to a total wimp, when it comes to writing.your not in a war. nobody is firing at you and some of your colleagues, no names but , lehigh mcgrory and vennochi together with cullen would be a close proximity. there is NOBODY standing up and speaking out for the people as in WE THE and OF BY and FOR THE PEOPLE and you people are running for cover totally scared to stand up and speak out on whats happening. the general is a human being with all of it's imperfections.whats your excuse. ma

What's YOUR excuse for remaining in the padded cell, hissing, snarling and chasing your tail when the door is open.

General Petaeus has been engaged in the world of actively killing people for ten years. He has led men in battle who have come home with brutal injuries or come home dead. He has led the killing of enemies and seen innocent civilians killed as a result. As CIA Director he has participated in drone warfare - death by distance. He now engages in risky personal business that is out of character. Consider PTSD and do not dismiss this article. PTSD symptoms include risky personal behavior. General Petraeus should do one other courageous act in addition to those he has done for his country. He should let it be known he is actively seeking information on whether he suffers from PTSD and, if so, get help and let the public and his soldiers know that this diagnosis is not confined to enlisted men.

Sure, it's Bush's fault. You might have a point if she were'nt 30 years younger than him.
