The man with the red jacket was armed with a handgun, which he used to pistol-whip the clerk in the head, Lynn police said. The clerk suffered a head laceration, police said.

During a struggle behind the counter of the store, the clerk managed to pull the mask off the face of one of the suspects, police said.

The third man had entered the store before the robbery and served as the lookout during the violent events that followed, police said.

Lynn police asked anyone with information to contact them at 781-595-2000. People can also send an anonymous tip to the police by texting the word tiplynn and the tip information to tip411 or 847411. Tips can also be submitted at the department’s website, lynnpolice.org.
