Mattapan man killed crossing major street in Everett

A man who was crossing Broadway in Everett was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle early today, authorities said.

The man has been identified as Artur “Arturo” Lopes, 37, of Mattapan, said Stephanie Guyotte, spokeswoman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr.

The driver of the car did not flee the scene and is cooperating with officials, Guyotte said.

The man was crossing in the 200 block of Broadway, a major thoroughfare, when he was struck.

The crash remains under investigation.
