Pine Manor College has named Ellen S. Hurwitz as interim president, the school announced Wednesday. Hurwitz steps in for Alane Shanks, who was placed on paid administrative leave in late September after becoming a central figure in state and federal investigations of Roxbury Community College, where she was the vice president of administration and finance prior to her arrival at Pine Manor. Hurwitz has more than 40 years of higher education experience. She has served as president of Albright College, New England College, and American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, Pine Manor said.
