Cranston father-daughter dance revived

A Rhode Island country music radio station is holding a father-daughter dance in a community that canceled a similar dance because of concerns it violated a state gender discrimination law. Cat Country WCTK-FM was scheduled to hold the dance Thursday night in Cranston. They are calling it a father-daughter dance, although both boys and girls are invited, along with a parent or other adult of either gender. The event is open to any student from kindergarten through sixth grade who attends a Cranston public school. It costs $10 per person. School officials ended their traditional father-daughter dances and mother-son ballgames earlier this year. (AP)
