A New Hampshire police officer said he was almost within tackling distance of a suspect he was pursuing when he heard the racking of a gun pulling a bullet into the chamber and felt his shin explode in pain. Manchester Police Officer Dan Doherty was testifying at a hearing on motions in advance of the trial next month of the man charged with attempted murder — Myles Webster, 23, of Litchfield. Webster is being held on a $1 million bond. Doherty said he is ‘‘100 percent’’ sure of his identification of Webster as the shooter.
