In the days leading up to Thanksgiving — the busiest time of year for food distribution agencies — individuals and families are lining up for meals in record numbers, even as food and monetary donations have declined.
The increased need is being driven, in part, by the growing number of people falling below the poverty line for the first time, as they struggle to keep up with the rising cost of living, from food to utilities, say agency representatives.

That's because the liberals have no moral compass. Conservatives share some of what they earn. Liberals demand the goverment seize treasure from those that work and, after feeding the thugs and hacks, give whats left to the downtrodden. The moonies castigated Mitt...but he gives a boatload to charity. Obama? Nothing. Warren? Nothing.... Bet DeValue seizes upon this as a call for "More Revenue!"

,The word "conservative" is so self righteous in meaning with its priestly robes while "liberal"has the underlying meaning of "weak," unduly compassionate" and don't forget "bleeding heart." This kind of condemnation then makes our Bill of Rights the same. I would offer a better meaning for "conservative" and that is "anti-Bill of Rights" and "fascist."
Why are they paying $17 a bird? BJ's had turkeys up to 14 pounds for$13 and Stop & Shop was selling them for 59 cents a pound...seems like you should get a better rate for buying 40,000 or at least a competitive rate. That would allow you to serve far more families. Time to get more frugal in getting food for donation...families are learning to do more with less...only buy sales, get generics, etc.

Shop Market Basket - you are over paying for your groceries.
“The face of hunger is changing, and Greater Boston Food Bank is serving more and more middle class families,” Catherine D’Amato, the food bank’s president and chief executive, said in a statement. “Nearly half of the people we serve do not qualify for government assistance. These are working adults who simply can’t make ends meet. This is the meal gap.”
Maybe Catherine should contribute a peice of her $500,000 annual compensation to help out the hungry...
Let's cut back on the Black Budget or sell an aircraft carrier we don't need so the government can feed the homeless and the helpless (living in the richest country of the world).
