The Vermont Human Rights Commission has sued the state over alleged gender discrimination it said was displayed in the paycheck of a female Department of Corrections employee, who was being paid significantly less than a man in the same job. The commission said Thursday it had joined Lynne Silloway, an administrative services coordinator with the Corrections Department, in suing that department and the Department of Human Resources. Robert Appel, executive director of the Human Rights Commission, said Silloway became aware in July 2010 that a male co-worker with the same title and duties and less seniority had an annual salary about $10,000 higher than hers.
