Norelli nominated for House speaker

CONCORD, N.H.— New Hampshire’s Democratic state representatives on Saturday nominated former House speaker and current House minority leader Terie Norelli of Portsmouth as their speaker for the next two years. Democrats regained the majority in this month’s election with a 221-179 edge over Republicans, though recounts could change the split. The Legislature is scheduled to meet Dec. 5 to organize and elect leaders. The Democratic caucus chose Norelli over David Campbell of Nashua. Republicans selected former House Speaker Gene Chandler of Bartlett on Thursday to be their leader. (AP)
