Inmate’s sex-change postponed for appeal to be heard

The federal judge who ordered a sex-change operation for a state prison inmate, ruling that the operation is the only appropriate remedy for a grave mental illness, agreed Tuesday to postpone enforcement of the decision until a higher court can hear an appeal.

US District Court Chief Judge Mark L. Wolf said in a hearing Tuesday that while he stands by his ruling and does not believe there are grounds for it to be overturned, it would be in the public’s best interest to postpone the irreversible surgery until the issue is decided by the US Court of Appeals.

Can this Judge finally be having second thoughts? He always seemed so straightforward and sane but this ruling was totally cock-eyed. Why should the public pay for a convicted murderer's sex-change operation? He is a prisoner after all. He murdered his wife after all. He deserves to be in prison after all. So why would we treat him as a normal citizen? He's not.

Enough already ... haven't we spent enough time, money and rescources on this kinky cross dressing murderer ? I am convinced that the only reason "Judge" Wolf initially ordered that the taxpers must fund this murdering perverts sex change operation - was to grab some headlines ... it is beyond bizarre even by Massachusetts standards that any Judge .. anywhere ... would agree to such a travesty. This murderer ... is in prison , becaue he killed his wife. Why we seem to be so concerned about his sexual orientation is beyond me ... put him where he was assigned , and if being a man is such a threat to his physical well being ... then by all means , get the man some dresses off the clearance rack - or maybe some guards have old gran ma's clothes in the attic ... toss him some pearls , and panties - let him have a grand old time in his cell , and be done with this nonsense ... Enough !!!

If these lawyers want to take these cases pro bono, them they shouldn't be trying to milk the state for close to a million dollars later. This person has nothing better to do and will continue to file "free" lawsuits as long as the system allows.

Too bad this freak isn't an illegal alien - Patrick would order the docs to start scrubbing for sugery today.

Thank God for a hint of sanity in this story!!

Whatever the law says should be done, and I'm neither a lawyer nor a judge. I frankly don't care one way or another. There are a lot more serious problems to worry about, but there seem to be a lot of people here with their undies in a knot.
