Boston’s Mayor Menino sits out holiday in hospital

Mayor Thomas M. Menino spent Thanksgiving in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, visited by friends and family, a spokeswoman said.

The mayor shared the holiday with his wife Angela Menino, daughter Susan Menino Fenton, son Thomas Menino Jr., his six grandchildren, and two close personal friends, according to Dot Joyce, the mayor’s spokeswoman.

Get well, Mayor Menino! The city needs you!

Four weeks in the hospital! What is that costing the taxpayers? Would an average person spend this amount of time for what sounds like outpatient issues?

I'm glad you have a medical degree and can diagnose the mayor's prognosis from the very limited information in a news story. You're even an expert on compression fractures. Wow! Impressive!

It's also nice to know that you're more worried about whether the city is paying for his hospitalization than you are about his health.

You lost your heart and decency over the years, but you picked up crabbiness as a replacement.

4 weeks in the hospital for a compression fracture? There is something we're not being told. I'm a resident of Boston - and a big supporter of Mayor Mennino.....that said, I want to know what is really going on here. Whatever the mayor's health issues are - I wish him a speedy and full recovery and want to see him back and serving the people of Boston as he has always done.

Wish him the best, but the health insurer, not the city, is paying the tab unless the hospital is providing courtesy rehab. Most Insurers would move him to a Rehab facility if he were actually recovering and not acutely ill.  Since he apparently is performing his job, why don't we all repect his privacy!

We all get old, Mayor, but I hope you have many more productive years, and you're back to your normal self very soon.

Have the decency to resign!
