The graffiti-covered railroad bridge that threads diagonally under the BU bridge will be closed to most train traffic for two weeks, after an inspection found that some of its crossbeams needed to be replaced. It is part of the little known Grand Junction railway that starts in Brighton and wends its way through Cambridge Somerville, Everett, and Chelsea. The railway carries freight and is used by Amtrak and the MBTA to transfer engines and coaches for maintenance.
