Whole Foods accents two halves of Charlestown
It’s a game they play in Charlestown, one in which everyone is an expert. The game is to figure out what percentage of the neighborhood are Townies and Toonies — the natives who get to wear the hooded sweatshirt with the shamrock, and the yuppies who do not. Now there is news that will change the entire Townie-Toonie infrastructure. Johnnie’s Foodmaster, the only supermarket in the neighborhood and one that was decidedly Townie, is being replaced by a Whole Foods Market.
