The rebuilt Laurel Avenue Bridge will be rededicated Monday as the Major General Nathanael Greene Memorial Bridge, Rhode Island’s Department of Transportation said. The bridge, which crosses the Pawtuxet River, was heavily damaged during the 2010 floods, and the rebuilt bridge was opened Nov. 8. Greene was a Rhode Island native who became a top military leader under George Washington in the Revolutionary War. Governor Lincoln Chafee and US Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse will attend the ceremony.
