Man punches female MBTA trolley driver during stop at the Fenway station

MBTA Transit Police continue to search for a suspect who yelled a racial slur and punched a female trolley driver Sunday afternoon at the MBTA Fenway station, according to a police report.

The driver was traveling outbound about 3 p.m. Sunday and stopped at the Fenway Station on the Green Line, Transit Police said. A man approached the driver and yelled at her.

The man then punched the driver’s right arm with a closed fist and called her a racial slur, Transit Police said.

The man fled toward the Landmark Center, authorities said. He is described as a white man in his 50s, wearing a black coat, and pushing a carriage full of computer parts.

Transit Police searched the area but could not find the suspect.

The driver declined medical attention, Transit Police said. She is confident that she could identify the man who assaulted her, according to police.

The driver is 42 years old and has been with the MBTA since 2008.

If Transit Police officers find the suspect, they will ask a judge to ban him from the MBTA, officials said.
