Nothing frivolous in duel of bar trivia entrepreneurs

The coup to seize control of Boston’s bar trivia industry began with one word: boring.

In one corner we have the longtime ruler: Stump Trivia, a company begun in a Marshfield basement 13 years ago that now hosts 150 weekly team trivia competitions at local bars.

Our next question: He was once the king of Boston trivia before finding out it wasn't all about him.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Okay, nobody got that one right.

Next question....

I keeep hearing that "Team Trivia"started in Atlanta in the '90s. Uh, I saw it San Diego in the early 90s, Norfolk VA in the mid-late 80s, and four-round four-question quizzes in UK and Ireland in the 80s. I guess I think its trivial as to when this format of trivia was arrived at, and trivia people who argue about trivia as a business seem more trivial until one realizes how much money is made in trivia - an amount that's not trivial.

Oops, a trivial typo, fifth word in third sentence should be "it's"
