Mass. veterinarian who euthanized cat cleared by license board

A Massachusetts veterinarian who mistakenly euthanized a cat who went in for a flea bath has been cleared by the state licensing agency. The Board of Registration in Veterinary Medicine found that Dr. Muhammad Malik had consent to euthanize Lady, an 8-year-old cat owned by Colleen Conlon of Gardner. Conlon said her adult son brought her cat to the veterinarian for a flea treatment, but when he returned, he was told Lady had been euthanized. The board's executive director said in its ruling that there was no substantial evidence that Malik violated statutes and regulations governing veterinary medicine.
