A Vermont man has pleaded not guilty to shooting a deer from the window of a sport utility vehicle in Bennington. A game warden said that when Joshua Hayes was asked to pull over on Nov. 24, he had an antlered white tail deer in the back. A witness said he heard a gunshot as he drove toward the SUV and saw a gun barrel extending from the driver’s side window. Another witness who heard the shot said two people got out of the SUV and went into the woods.
