Survivors in Charlestown recall attack on Pearl Harbor

The warplane swooped in low, and as it roared by, Donald Tabbut, an 18-year-old radioman, looked directly overhead and saw the symbol of the rising sun on its underside.

“I can’t tell you what was on my mind . . . it was fear, strictly fear,” Tabbut said during a Pearl Harbor commemoration ceremony Friday afternoon in the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Pearl Harbor Day, a day to be remembered for the sacrifices of the men & women that perished. It is also special that we still have our Veteran's that were actual witnesses to this tragic event and remind us of what they experienced. These Veteran's deserve our respect. As the years go by, there will be fewer of them to tell their story. Thank you Veteran's for your service.
