Wednesday is the 12th day of the 12th month in 2012, or 12/12/12 for short, bringing an end to the repeating month, day, year calendar digits that many have celebrated by scheduling weddings and births on these days since 01/01/01.

The next string of similarly lucky repetitive-digit dates won’t come around for the next century, until January 1, 2101, or 01/01/01.

That’s assuming the Earth makes it past Dec. 21, called “doomsday” by many fringe theorists.

Last year’s 11/11/11 was considered the luckiest, especially when the clock turned to 11:11, a time some wait for to make wishes.

In English, the word twelve is the largest number with only one syllable.
