Attorney General Martha Coakley suffered a setback Wednesday when she did not secure a conviction against Timothy P. Cahill, the former state treasurer who left the Democratic Party in a quixotic bid for governor.
But the amount of the damage from the hung jury and its long-term effects on Coakley’s political career sparked a debate among political and legal analysts.

Maaatha lost to Scott " I love my truck" Brown a certified duffus. She is not a well liked gal. Can't we send here somewhere out of sight? She just looks miserable and agitated in every clip. its torture to have to keep hearing her name and seeing her face.
your an a wipe of the 1st degree
This case was Fells Acres all over again, she thought she could railroad some poor, unpopular schlub into prison and ride the publicity to move up to higher office. Worked once, although it's been clear for well over a decade that Fells Acres was a bogus case and the alleged child abuse never actually happened. Expecting it to work twice was naive, kind of like Tim Faw Tweasuwer thinking just because he got lucky once he was destined to be lucky again. Cahill is guilty only of being a chump, and you should
n't go to prison for being a chump.
I can't stand Tim Cahill and I like Martha Coakley but I still think this a needless, useless waste of time, effort and tax dollars.
Maybe, as Attorney General, you shouldn't be allowed to seek a higher office. I think it would be extremely difficult to be the state's top cop while also navigating a political career. Even the most principled person would be compromised with going after those that could negatively impact their future.
Going after Cahill was a waste of time and money. There's no shortage of other criminals to pursue....
