New Englanders had a dark and gloomy commute this morning, and there is plenty more rain on the way. Showers and patchy fog are hovering over Boston today and temperatures are near 40, according to the National Weather Service. Much of the region battled freezing rain this morning, which caused “hazardous travel” on roads north of the Massachusetts Turnpike, said meterologist Charlie Foley. Some areas in the Bay State saw pockets of snow, but totals amounted to less than an inch.
