Johnson & Wales University is planning to open the state’s first physician assistant training program. The Center for Physician Assistant Studies will be located in the so-called Knowledge District in downtown Providence. The university expects the first class seeking a master’s degree in physician assistant studies to enroll starting in June 2014. The university said it plans to renovate the 18,000-square-foot building at 157 Clifford St. into a facility with lecture halls, a clinical skills lab, an anatomy lab and small group conference rooms.
