A couple has been arrested after the wife fired a gun while the husband was struggling with an officer at their home, police said. Officer Roger St. Onge of the Deering police went to the house at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a 911 hang-up call, officials said. Stanley West answered the door and denied there had been a call. Assistant Rockingham County Attorney Benjamin LeDuc told WMUR-TV that St. Onge started to open the screen door and that West started punching him. At some point, two shots were fired. Police say that West’s wife, Margaret Jane Schultz, fired the gun. No one was injured.
