You viewed a set of facts about a particular issue and then clearly stated your opinion in exceptionally well written English. I also enjoyed your visits as a commentator and guest fill-in on Jim and Margery and appearances on Greater Boston - keep going there. In my opinion, your columns could be used for not only journalism classes but for English classes from the middle school through the high school based on the fact of your published columns. I didn't always agree with your columns, but I liked more of them than I disliked. You did your job by often challenging me, rather than simply reinforcing what I already believed.
The first thing I do every morning is go downstairs to get my newspaper. Please keep this one going. The Economist says the bottom has essentially been reached and will be leveling out. I hope they're right.
Congratulations. It's heartwarming to see hard work rewarded. I thought of sending you a chicken hatching kit as a gift, but obviously you won't need a rooster to wake you up on your new gig. Remember your roots and your home address and you will do amazing.

You've brought color and edginess to your little corner of the paper, something that I wish more of your colleagues would embrace (Shaughnessy can disregard), and I've enjoyed it for years. Also glad to be part of a town that's given you so much pleasure to write about.
Congratulations Brian! Will you be moving to Hingham now? (just kidding) I remember when the late Jess Cain lived there when it was a little more down to earth, but changing. It went seriously nouveau riche over the last twenty-five years or so. I remember when "old money" types seemed to compete as to who was the most understated. Some of them could nearly pass for being homeless when acually they had just spent a day sailing.
