More than 28,000 families have written to Globe Santa seeking his help providing gifts for their children and among them are many fathers raising children on their own.

One father wrote that he has full custody of his 6-year-old son because the boy was abused by his mother when he was an infant. To this day, the father wrote, “the boy’s mother has no involvement with the family.’’
