A Maine man was arrested in connection with the shooting of a man in Freedom, N.H., on Monday night, New Hampshire State Police said. Joseph Wright, 38, of Parsonsfield, Maine, who police say was present at a shooting on Huckins Road, was charged with falsifying physical evidence, hindering apprehension, and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Carroll County House of Corrections, State Police said. Around 8 p.m., troopers were summoned to Huckins Road in Freedom, where they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The man was taken to Memorial Hospital in North Conway and released later that evening, said State Police, who are searching for a man and a woman who also reportedly were at the scene of the shooting. A deputy from the Carroll County sheriff’s office was taken to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro for injuries to his leg and foot when his weapon unintentionally discharged at the scene. He is expected to make a full recovery, State Police said. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the New Hampshire State Police’s Troop E barracks, at 603-223-8838.
