The University of Massachusetts Lowell will open its first satellite campus in Haverhill, which will allow for an easier commute for the 2,000-plus students who hail from that area, the university announced Monday

“The university is excited to be initiating this project. We hope this will be the beginning of a long-term partnership with Haverhill that will bring economic vitality to the city,” said Chancellor Marty Meehan in a statement.
