William Lantigua will seek another term as Lawrence mayor

LAWRENCE — William Lantigua, the controversial mayor of Lawrence who has been buffeted by allegations of political corruption in his administration, announced Friday that he will run for reelection next year.

About 100 people packed a bar and grill Friday night for an event originally billed as a way for Lantigua to find out whether the community supported his candidacy. A woman walked around the dining area with a pad, asking people for names, addresses, and their vote — yes or no — on another Lantigua run, the mayor said.

Since you would have to be a moron to voluntarily live in Lawrence, it is no surprise that this population of voters chooses a corrupt clown like him.

Wake up Lawrence this is a  guy who fired a long time city worker with a disabled child to hire a relative. They do not make people more dispicable than this pond scum.

Lantigua for Senator, could he be any worse than Kerry?

Everyone around him takes the fall. "it's not corruption it is part of our customs"

He is under investigation by the state. The state should put that investigation in overdrive and get some results while there is time for other candidates to step up. Over time,  the Patrick administration has been woefully quiet on Lawrence and its mayor. Patrick and Lantigua have a history that seems to make it tough for Patrick to criticize the mayor of Lawrence.  Such misplaced loyalty on the part of the governor is disappointing, to say the least.

Why are all these people speaking Spanish after they've been in the country for decades?  Speaking of speaking Spanish, the private sector should be able to use any and all languages they choose to conduct their business.  Not so for the publice sector.  No taxpayer dollars should be used to produce government informational materials, ballots, etc. in any language other than English.  Any time a translator is required, he or she should be paid for by the person needing the translator, not by the taxpayers.  If you want to live in this country and become an American, learn English.

Some government officials to a different standard, the difference is legislative government officials can vote themselves pay raises. Now that is the  pinnacle of success.

Lucky if he stays out of jail long enough to be reelected.
