Vermont State Police are investigating a report of possible abuse of cattle in St. Albans. Troopers and veterinarians checked the welfare and living conditions of 39 cattle in a roped-off pasture on Friday and determined that they had inadequate shelter, food and water. Police said one of the animals was found to be suffering from hypothermia and had to be euthanized. Authorities said the investigation is continuing, and criminal charges are possible.
