Deep freeze hits Boston area

The deep freeze is expected through Thursday morning, with overnight temperatures dropping below zero in some parts of Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will struggle to make it out of the teens throughout much of Northern New England.

The National Weather Service said some locations in northern New Hampshire and Maine fell to 20 degrees below zero overnight as arctic high pressure was centered over the region.

The cold weather is expected to linger Thursday with few places expected to reach a high of 20 degrees.

The weather service said the worst of the cold air shifts back to the north on Friday.
