Lucky ducks get rescued from Lowell canal

Two ducks are in luck today after being rescued from a Lowell canal, officials said.

The Lowell Fire Department was called at 1:42 p.m. and spent 45 minutes working to approach the ice-bound ducks, said Bob Flynn, deputy fire chief. Three fire companies responded to the canal near 130 Central St., though nobody needed to physically pull the ducks from the water.
