A four-time convicted felon who helped orchestrate the purchase of 10 firearms and more than 750 rounds of ammunition to prepare for doomsday has pleaded guilty in federal court to being a felon in possession of firearms. The Rhode Island US attorney’s office said Monday that Peter Laporte, 47, of Warwick, changed his plea in US District Court in Providence Monday. Authorities said Laporte and his wife went to a gun shop in Richmond on July 30 and that he advised her to buy four 9mm pistols, a .357 revolver, two semiautomatic assault rifles, a Remington 30-6 rifle, and two shotguns.
