Health care expert may run for Mass. governor

A former Obama administration official whose nomination to a powerful health care post was derailed by Senate Republicans said Tuesday that he is strongly considering a run for governor in 2014.

If he decides to run, Dr. Donald M. Berwick would follow a path charted by Elizabeth Warren, who began her term as senator this week, two years after her nomination to lead a federal consumer protection agency was shelved amid Republican opposition.

Don Berwick would have my vote and I would endorse him gladly to all voters. We worked many years ago together at Harvard Community Health Plan, he as a senior executive in charge of health care quality, and me as a programmer analyst performing information system design and programming tasks. We used HCHP's electronic health record (EHR) to improve care and outcomes, as well as analyze patient hospitalization trends for cost controls. That was in the early 1980s. The point is that Don Berwick has always been a leader who has used new ideas and technologies, while balancing human needs against hard analysis and collective goals for outcomes.

This state is full of senior executives in charge of health care quality!

Not exactley what we needs as qualifications for Governor.

How about setting a higher bar than knowledge of health care?

The Department of Public Health requires a senior executive in charge of health care quality.

So that's who's responsible for our deficit-ridden, left-directed, health care plan?

Who?  I never heard of him.  Has he ever been to the traditional St. Patrick's Day breakfast at Halitosis Hall?

OMG_what is happening to this state!

Big, big, campaign fund raiser for the Democrats, and an Obama Toadie.

Come now you Donkeys, line up for the Kool-aid.

For evidence, see my blog above. Dr. Berwick is a far left healthcare RADICAL who was not confirmed by Republican Senators. And for good reason. Just read quotes from Donald berwick on the Internet...In the Globe's :"Sanititized" versions of its chosen political candidates, Hugo Chevez would make a fine choice.

Not exactly what is needed as a qualification for MA Governor.

If Dr. Donald M. Berwick is now looking for employment, someone tell him the Commonwealth's Department of Public Health requires a senior executive in charge of health care quality.

Gad!  just what the State needs - another do-gooder intend on using politics to do what he-or-she thinks is good, perdicated of course on taking more money and more rights and liberty from the taxpayers to finance the good-doing. He should stay at Harvard where fantasy world attitudes and outlooks dont do much harm to the rest of us.

Of course, the Globe doesn't tell you that Donald Berwick, when asked his opinion of the UK's health care "Death Panels" said"

I am romantic about the NHS; I love it. All I need to do to rediscover the romance is to look at health care in my own country.”

Dr. Berwick also said " Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional.

The Globe in endorsing Dr. Berwick is attempting to push the worst kind of health care advocate on an unsuspecting public.
