WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone says he won’t seek re-election next year to a third term in the high-profile prosecutor’s job.
Leone’s statement Thursday night said he is not running for another office and intends to leave government at the end of his term. He said he has no specific plans now.

That's very unfortunate. He's a home-town boy who, from all outward appearances has done an excellent job. I like his candor, his ability to show his disgust for the criminal element and above all, who doesn't love his painfully good native accent? I do wish he'd stay for at least one more turn. There's enough change going on right now and he's doing a great job.
