Newtown parents want police to stay at schools

Some parents are calling for police to remain at town schools indefinitely, saying the sight of uniformed officers is a comfort to their children in a town reeling from last month’s massacre inside an elementary school. School officials said they have received many e-mails voicing concern about long-term security. The district has had two officers at each of its six schools since the shooting Dec. 14 that left 20 children and six staff members dead at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. School Superintendent Janet Robinson also wants the police presence to continue.
