Mohegan Sun set to submit Mass. casino bid

N.Y. firm will help bankroll $600m plan for Palmer location

The owners of Mohegan Sun, defying speculation they were out of the Massachusetts casino sweepstakes, have found a new financial backer and on Monday will apply to the state’s gambling commission to build a gambling resort in Palmer, the Connecticut casino’s top executive said Sunday.

Mohegan Sun has struck a partnership with a $12 billion New York investment group, Brigade Capital Management, to bankroll the development, Mitchell Etess, chief executive of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, said in an interview.

Wunnaful, wunnaful!!!  Now, a couple of questions. . .  Will the Mohegan Sun bunch get preference like the Wampanoag crowd because they are Indians?  In other words, does the state of Massachusetts casino law have a so-far unnoticed Affirmative Action clause for all Indian developers?

Secondly, will the fact tht the Mohegan Sun bunch get a special looksee by the Massachusetts Gambling Insitution Czars because they are already operating a gambling palace in Connecticut and thus have already gone through a lot of the hoopla, red tape, and spin associated with such developments?  Or maybe will the Massachusetts Gambling Institution Czars hold their noses and merely put the Mohegan sun bunch's application for a Palmer castle through the red tape motions because they are required to, with little intent to help out the carpetbaggers?
