Maine state police say speed and distracted driving were possible factors in a fatal crash in which a 17-year-old was behind the wheel in Readfield. It was also foggy at the time of the crash. Investigators said Gabriel Soucy, 20, of Mount Vernon, died at the scene Saturday afternoon after the pickup truck he was riding in went through a stop sign and slammed into a tree. The truck’s teenage driver was from Wayne, but police declined to identify him. State Police will consult with the attorney general’s office after the investigation is completed.
