Gunfire narrowly misses Lawrence family; investigation ongoing

LAWRENCE — A woman, her boyfriend, and the couple’s infant daughter narrowly escaped injury in Lawrence early Sunday when a bullet fired into their bedroom passed through the headboard of the bed, caromed off a wall and into the ceiling, before falling down behind the infant’s crib.

A second shot was fired into the second bedroom where the woman’s 8-year-old daughter was sleeping. She, too, was unharmed, Police Chief John Romero said in a telephone interview Tuesday.
