Shrugging off the fiscal caution of recent years, Governor Deval Patrick proposed a $1.9 billion tax increase tonight in his State of the Commonwealth address, saying it was necessary for the state to invest more in education and the state’s transportation network to “accelerate growth and expand opportunity.”
Patrick called for a 1 percentage point increase, from 5.25 percent to 6.25 percent, in the state income tax. At the same time, he called for a decrease in the sales tax from 6.25 percent to 4.5 percent.

The sheeple of Massachusetts continue to re-elect this arrogant little man as Governor. None of his voters have the right to complain about tax hikes. However, those of us that did not vote for him, do.
So, what happened to all of the tax money Mitt Romney stored up while he was governor?
Here we go. Tax hikes. What about cutting some spending? Reviewing all state debt obligations, contracts, pensions, payrolls, etc., etc.

There's no good time to reduce the pay of the useless state workers but....

Elizabeth Warren says "The Middle Class is getting HAMMERED!"
"Shrugging off the fiscal caution of recent years, Governor Deval Patrick proposed a $1.9 billion tax increase tonight in his State of the Commonwealth address, saying it was necessary for the state to invest more in education and the state’s transportation network to “accelerate growth and expand opportunity." The Globe gets 6 (SIX) LIES into one sentence. !. "Shrugging off". Since when does Deval "Shrug off his TRUE agenda. He HID his true agnda until the election was over. 2. "The fiscal caution". There is ZERO "Fiscal caution from Cadillac Deville. 3. "IT was necessary for the state to invest" NO it is NOT NECESSARY and "INVEST" really means spend YOUR taxpayer money. 4. "In education" DOESN'T mean for your kids. It's for the kids of Deval's illegal immigrants, whom Deval opromised should get a free education. And "invest in education" means pay increases fo teachers and more money into their pension fund. 5. "Invest in the state's gtransportation network". So 32 people a month can get a train ride to Fall River. And to make sure that the T's union workers get a pay INCREASE, while many of us hve no job at all. And 6. "To accelerate growth " That's "Growth of the state government, NOT of the stagte's economy. "And expand opportunity". More opportunity for taxpayer funded govermnent jobs like taxpayer funded "Green Energy" jobs.
Wow. Urkel is out of his ****ing mind. I thought he was crazy writing a book that sold 20 copies, but this is ridiculous. He obviously does not live in reality.
Yes...fix transportation. The state has successfully completely screwed it up over the years. "Reform" will only fix so much, but ~1 billion a year in increased revenue!? I don't think so... I guess you haven't seen the state of the economy Urkel. Time to stop doing your dance in your office and grow up.
Wow, Deval sure knows how to take care of his constituents. Tax increase for the working folks and tax reduction for the layabouts buying their flat screens. What a country.
