New postage stamps are apple of Bay State’s eyes

Bay State philatelists, rejoice: New postcard stamps issued by the US Postal Service feature a Massachusetts apple, illustrated by a Bay State resident.

The four 33-cent stamps in the Apples series feature artwork by John Burgoyne of West Barnstable, and they include Massachusetts’ own Baldwin apple, said postal service spokesman Mark Saunders. The Apples stamps are being issued ahead of a one-cent increase in postcard postage, which will take effect Jan. 27.

Would of been nice if this article at least gave honorable mention to Woburn's Colonel Loammi Baldwin (the apples namesake)...and more importantly....an American Revolutionary war hero and father of civil engineering.

Nice new stamp!  Too bad they are not "Forever" stamps, which are one of the best ideas the Postal System ever implemented.

I thought the Post Office was going broke ?   Just go back to one style stamp for each catagory.
