A North Providence lawyer convicted of federal corruption charges has been disbarred. The Rhode Island Supreme Court order this week means that Robert Ciresi is no longer licensed to practice law in the state. Ciresi was convicted in April 2011 of bribery, extortion, and conspiracy in facilitating bribes to three councilmen in North Providence. He was sentenced to five years and three months in prison. Ciresi’s law license was suspended while he appealed the decision. In October, a federal appeals court upheld the conviction.
