Woman took several medications before head-on crash, police say

A Hingham woman who allegedly had taken several medications crashed head-on into a car Friday, causing serious injuries to the other driver, according to Hingham police. Marcia Blake, 54, was arrested and charged on several counts including operating under the influence of drugs causing serious bodily injury and reckless operation, and child endangerment while operating under the influence. Blake had a 3-year-old girl in the back seat of her car, police said. Blake had been driving south on Fort Hill Street when her vehicle crossed the center line, struck another vehicle head on, and caught fire. The driver of the other car, Charleen Phillips, 67, of Scituate, was taken to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries. Blake allegedly told police she had consumed multiple medications, including Oxycodone, Percocet, and Klonopin. Blake was taken to a hospital; the 3-year-old was not injured. Blake is scheduled to be arraigned in Hingham District Court Tuesday.
