A student at the University of Massachusetts has died in a fire at an apartment complex, according to an Amherst fire official. Assistant Chief Lindsay Stromgren declined to give the name or age of the male victim. State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said the fire was reported at the Rolling Green apartment complex about 4:45 a.m. Monday. Officials said the complex housed about 32 people, including 22 UMass students. The fire marshal’s office said UMass is working to find housing for the students. Coan said the fire appears to have started in the unit where the deceased student was discovered; the blaze was under investigation.
